Under the intense spotlight of national media coverage, the tragedy of a school shooting spreads horror, shock, and fear to every border of the country. Researchers at the University of Toledo and Ball State University conducted a comprehensive review of 18 years of reports on school security measures. Despite the safety crises, this research states that there’s no evidence that hardening schools with armed guards and single points of entry to make kids safer from gun violence actually works, creating “a false sense of security.”
After 25 years of successfully developing Millimeter Wave and related technologies for the U.S. and allied government systems, Guardian School Security Systems is developing a solution for these advanced early threat detection and ultra-high-speed communication systems. Unlike X-rays, Millimeter Waves are non-ionizing and universally considered non-carcinogenic. Using a range of micro detectors and millimeter wave repeaters, a perimeter detection and communication network covering an entire campus is now achievable for your school campuses.
These systems will be installed throughout campuses to create a perimeter. Once a threat is identified crossing your perimeter, the system can direct cameras, securely live stream, and alert 911 and authorities via cell phone or other IP devices. Advanced warnings with an icon of the threat and a live stream of the perpetrator provide the time needed to engage first responders and save seconds and minutes when they matter most.
Lead Educational Service Agencies will be selected to recommend demonstration school sites. In addition, the initial demonstration schools must have good relations with their state and federal government representatives.
